The northeast goes all out for our parades. The 44th Annual Hartford St. Patrick's Day Parade is Sat the 14th starting at 11am and is a blast for all ages. The parade starts at the Capital and ends at the Memorial Arch in Bushnell Park.
Here is the Hartford Courant's description of the parade "Hartford's St. Patrick's Day Parade, presented by the Central Connecticut Celtic Cultural Committee, steps off this year on Saturday, March 14, at 11 a.m., on Capitol Avenue near the State Capitol. Marchers will wind their way around Main, Asylum and Ford streets to end at the Memorial Arch in Bushnell Park.
Now in its 44th year, the Hartford parade features approximately 20 bands and 5,000 marchers from Hartford, Rocky Hill, Manchester, West Hartford, South Windsor, Glastonbury, East Hartford, Wethersfield and New Britain. This year's grand marshal is Margaret Oliver Moriarty.
This parade is held rain or shine, so pay attention to the weather forecasts before you head out. Road closures are to be expected come parade time. This year, the XL Center is hosting two American Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Championship games on March 14, and parking and driving routes may be different from years past.
