I'm dedicating site the for the next few weeks as a guide to help anyone unfamiliar with the Hartford area who is here for the AAC basketball tournament. I love going to new cities but digging through message boards and yelp is always a pain. Hopefully this can make things easier and help you enjoy Connecticut even more.
Being a UConn alumni and CT resident I’m more then excited about the American Tournament being in Hartford this year. People love to rip on Hartford, the city Mark Twain once called “Of all the beautiful towns it has been my fortune to see, this is the chief... You do not know what beauty is if you have not been here” had fallen on hard time in the 80’s and 90’s. Today the city is seeing a resurgence. In the last 10 years we have seen science museums, movie theaters, bars, thousands of apartments, and entire new districts added to the city. In the next few years we have a new ballpark, a downtown UConn campus, and a downtown north district being constructed. But let’s not get stuck in what was or will be, let’s talk about now. Hartford is a great “event city”. When there is a game or concert the city is alive and energized. The weekend of March 12-15 we have the AAC Tournament, St. Patrick’s Day parade, a cheerleading convention, pub crawls, and several concerts. This weekend is going to be fun! I will be breaking down the different events, restaurants, and bars you may want to visit so check back for those updates. I should have everything up before the first games tip off.
